Targets College Level
Students determine the amino acid sequence of a tripeptide isolated from a protein hydrolysate. The experiments in this kit enable students to determine the chain length of the peptide by formol titration, determine the amino acid content and composition of the tripeptide using chromatographic techniques to determine Rf values, and identify which amino acids are the N-terminal and C-terminal residues using solvent extraction, enzymatic digestion, and chromatography. Includes sample student data sheets. Allow 2-1/2 - 3 hour lab time. Designed for 24 students working in groups of four. This kit contains formaldehyde.
