National Standard for Grade Levels 10-12
By volumetric titration, students analyze the chloride content of seawater samples from the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico. The constant ratio of dissolved substances in sea water allows the concentration of salt and other elements to be extrapolated from the chlorine concentration. Student may obtain additional water samples for analysis, as the materials included are sufficient for the titrations to be repeated three times. Designed for 24 students working in six groups of four. Required, but not included: 25 mL burettes. Contains silver nitrate.
