Targets College Level

 

Experiments include: Solubility of Lipids, Emulsification of Lipids, Grease Spot Test for Fats, Saponification of Fats, and Iodine Test for Absorption. Demonstrate the properties of lipids, how to identify lipids, how lipids dissolve in polar substances, and how to distinguish between saturated and unsaturated lipids. Kit includes chloroform, petroleum ether, and methanol. Designed for 24 students working in groups of four. Allow 1 1/2 hr lab time.
