Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures II emphasizes the creation of new products. In Experiment 1, a new product is formed when two substances are combined. In Experiment 2, a new product is formed when two solutions are combined. Studentswitness evidence of chemical reactions: formation of precipitates, color changes, odors, or the production of gas during the experiments and use separation techniques to isolate the new compounds. This kit includes sufficient materials to repeat each experiment twice. Includes activity worksheets with answer keys covering chemical symbols, chemical formulas, chemical names, components of common compounds, distinguishing between chemical and physical changes, and vocabulary. Allow 45 minutes for experimentation, plus 5 minutes for observation on a subsequent day. Designed for 24 students working in groups of four. Required, but not included: balance and laboratory supplies.
