National Standards for Grade Levels 9-14
Circular Motion includes experiments on centripetal force, centrifugal force, and tangential motion. By recording the number of revolutions per second, measuring the radius, and making calculations, students discover that the force is related to the velocity of the motion and the radius of the circle. Includes instructor’s manual, guided calculations, assessment questions, sample data, complete answer keys, and materials for all experiments. Required, but not included: balance or scale accurate to 0.01 g. A bucket and rope are required for the demonstration. Allow one hour of lab time. Appropriate for any level physics course (including AP) or general science courses. Designed for working in groups of four to six, with materials sufficient for up to 36 students.
