Blood typing for Rh factor is a critical medical procedure. Rh genetics can be of concern during pregnancy and blood transfusions. Students learn why under certain circumstances when the mother is Rh negative and the embryo is Rh positive, the baby can be at risk of attack by the mother’s immune system. By determining blood types and taking appropriate medical precautions, the incidence of Rh-induced hemolytic disease of the newborn (erythroblastosis fetalis) fatalities have been substantially reduced in the United States. This kit features the safety of simulated bloods and antisera and the convenience of self-adhesive Hema-Tags®.

Includes an enhanced instructor’s manual with background information, reproducible student worksheets, and comprehensive answer keys. Contains 5mL of simulated anti-Rh and 2mL of each simulated blood sample type. Materials provided are sufficient for up to 50 tests.
