Students experience life as a biotechnician using the AIDS test kit to run eight serum samples in a simulated Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to determine which patient(s) have contracted the HIV virus. Kit includes simulated patient serums, conjugate, chromagen, and reusable pre-treated ELISA microtiter plates. The kit may be used many times; just add distilled water. The kit does not contain blood serum or infectious agents. Students experience the world of immunology and learn the biology of the HIV virus in association with this one hour lab investigation. Includes background material on the immunology of AIDS, differentiating HIV from AIDS, contracting and avoiding HIV, and how an ELISA works. Designed for 24 students working in groups of four. This kit is appropriate for Advanced Biology, College Prep, or college level coursework. Kit contains Nitric Acid.
